The event was graced by several dignitaries, including the Commercial Consuls of the Republic of Iran and Malaysia, as well as showbiz luminaries such as Behroz Sabzwari and Humayun Saeed. Prominent business community members in attendance included Mr. Iftikhar Sheikh (President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce), Altaf Ghaffar (SVP), Tanveer Bari (VP), and former Presidents of KCCI: Shameem Firpo, Idrees Memon, M. Tariq Yousuf, and Majeed Aziz, among others.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Abdullah Zaki thanked the guests for attending the event and highlighted various sectors, including textiles, fashion designing, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, sports goods, personal care, and cereals, where Pakistani companies could explore opportunities in the Malawian market.
Mr. M. Zubair Motiwala, in his address, congratulated Mr. Abdullah Zaki on his appointment as the new Honorary Consul General of Malawi. He expressed hope that this appointment would open new doors for bilateral trade and cultural collaboration between the two friendly countries. Taking advantage of the presence of the business community, Mr. Motiwala commented on the Federal Budget and expressed dismay at the measures taken by the Federal Government. He urged the Government to consider the business community’s suggestions to help steer the country out of the economic crisis.
Mr. Shamoon Zaki, Chairman of the Pakistan-Indonesia Business Council, in his vote of thanks, expressed gratitude to the business community members, particularly Mr Motiwala and Dr June Kuncoro for sparign their time.
After the group photographs, guests were treated to a sumptuous dinner featuring a variety of Pakistani and continental cuisines.
